About me

Alessia Ranieri

Answering the question "who am I?" it is anything but simple.

Perhaps this is also why we usually describe ourselves using the roles we play in life: professional, social, family.

But behind these roles, what really defines us?

To tell you who I am, perhaps I have to go back to when I was a child.

As a child I really liked listening, even secretly, to adults' conversations.

I liked trying to understand the "whys" and explanations behind the facts, which are often kept from children. I liked trying to put order in stories, make sense, construct explanations that opened up new perspectives.

Writing was a way of expressing my feelings and thoughts.

It helped me better understand myself and the world around me, reflect on what struck me and imagine alternative scenarios.

Even as I grew up, my interest in stories didn't change.

I continued to look for ways to help others sort out their stories, to see things from different points of view. This desire led me to undertake studies in Psychology, with the aim of helping people free themselves from blocking rhetoric and predefined schemes to discover and build new and more authentic narratives for themselves.

MY APPROACH

I am a Constructivist Psychotherapist and my work is based on the belief that our lives are made up of stories, and that these stories can always be rewritten in ways that reflect who we truly are.

Kelly's Personal Construct Theory (1955) is the framework I use to "read" people's experiences and the lens that helps me build new possibilities together with them. This approach fits with my belief that each person has more than one possible story within them, more than one perspective yet to be explored. This is what guides me every day in my work: the idea that, even when everything seems blocked, there is always a possibility still waiting to be discovered.

MY PROFESSIONAL PATH

I graduated in Psychology at the University of Padua, then completing my specialisation in Constructivist Psychotherapy at the ICP – Institute of Constructivist Psychology. During my journey, I also developed a theoretical reinterpretation of authentic leadership in the context of a doctoral research at Henley Business School in Reading (England).

I have worked in Italy and England, both in the public and private sectors, with patients suffering from chronic intestinal diseases (IBD), chronic pain and work-related stress disorders. I have been lucky enough to accompany many people on their paths of change, discovering new possibilities and meanings together with them.

HOW CAN I HELP YOU

Today, like yesterday, I listen to stories, put things in order and imagine alternatives.

I deal with people, relationships and their impact on our lives. I am convinced that, even when we seem to see no way out, there are always new perspectives and possibilities waiting to be explored.

If you also feel that there is a story inside you waiting to be told or rediscovered, contact me.

I'm here to listen to you, help you put things in order and imagine new perspectives.
